“Dog Days” of Summer

Standard

Every summer it seems like my husband finds us projects to do around the house. Right now we are in the process of building our two adorable Australian Shepherds a new kennel.

I’m pretty proud of his craftsmanship (and my wood staining skills) on this one and can’t wait til it’s done.

Since taking the above picture, I’ve stained the inside and my husband has finished cutting and screwing in all of the wood to complete the outside. All that is left now is to frame the inside area where the dogs will sleep.

Double Time

Standard

Not sure if this is a “normal” practice or not but I’m going to attempt at upholding two blog’s. One here at WordPress, for thoughts and posts about family etc. The other at Blogger so I can do sponsored posts/giveaways and provide advertising. I’m thinking my product reviews will be over at the other page as well but I will post the link here as well…

My youngest son just turned one and is still nursing, at this point he mostly wants to nurse when he is going to take a nap or if he gets hurt. We exclusively breastfed until he started eating babyfood and solids and it has be a wonderful experience! He does have his top and bottom front teeth so weaning is in our horizon, as I don’t wish to have my nipples bitten off and surgically reattached (I have a bit of a flair for the dramatic).

PLEASE NOTE: I AM NOT A BREASTFEEDING NAZI THAT LOOKS DOWN ON THOSE WHO DON’T CHOOSE TO NURSE THEIR BABIES. (TO EACH THEIR OWN).

Now that we have gotten that out of the way, the reason behind this post is The Big Latch On. The goal of this event is that large groups of women come together and nurse their babies at a unanimous time to set a world record, much like The Great Cloth Diaper Change. I am quite passionate about normalizing breastfeeding in public. It seriously bugs me that a picture of a bare breasted woman in a sexual sense is more widely accepted than a mom nursing her little one.

Now as much as I wish I could go with four kids you can bet your sweet bippy that I won’t be attending (well that, and there isn’t an event in my state) but if you would like to you can find the location nearest you Here.

This is the Citrus Lane box my son received this month. This is the second box that we have gotten and so far I am pretty impressed. His first box included a full size pack Ella’s Kitchen baby cookies, a stacking toy, a sample of Dapple Dishsoap and a book from Barefoot Books. and a lavender chamomile moisture stick from Deep Steep Most, if not all of the products included in the box are organic or earth friendly. This is important to me because I am a semi-crunchy mama. You can get $10 off of your first box and for convenience purposes they do 2 month, 3 month and 6 month subscriptions.

Get your box HERE.

Two Week Notice

I think it is fair to say that being a parent is the hardest job one could have. I’m sure you’ve heard it before but we aren’t just parents, we are therapists, nurses, nutritionalists, taxi drivers, etc.
Now don’t get me wrong, I love my kids so so much and wouldn’t trade them for anything. But there are days where I am just at my wits end and think about throwing in the towel and putting in my two weeks.

I could see the ad now…

ATTENTION: MOM WANTED FOR FOUR KIDS. MUST LIKE TO PLAY, ABILITY TO HANDLE STRESS, GOOD PROBELM SOLVING SKILLS, COOKING AND CLEANING IS A MUST AND ABSOLUTELY HAS TO BE GOOD WITH BABIES

I’ve threatened more than once for them to type up the ad but my oldest son just laughs and walks away. O well!
